About this Item

A very strange book, this. A 7" by 5" paperback, with blank white card covers. These may be replacements, but they have the feel and look of the original covers. Seemingly published in 1938 to comemorate the four hundredth anniversary of the reformation, it carries the statement "Largely rewritten with additional Illustrations" on the title page, an apparent earlier edition being published to commemmorate the four hundredth anniversary of the "setting up" of the English Bible in Parish Churches. it is a "History of the Bible", tracing the literary sources of the modern Bible from the earliest Syriac, Latin, greek and Coptic manuscripts. Includes eight illustrations. 153 pages. Cover is partially detatched from the adhesive of the spine, but the whole thing is quite solid and sound, and the cover could be stuck back easily. No tears, very little wear, just a little yellowed . No inscriptions. An uncommon and fascinating work. Bookseller Inventory # 000373
