Book Description U.S. Army Air Forces, Flight Control Command N.d. [ca 1948], Washington DC, 1948. Paperback. First Edition. Will Eisner (1917-2005) is best remembered for his classic and innovative American comic book The Spirit, which he drew from 1940-1952; he was also an important figure in the development of the graphic novel form, beginning with his A Contract With God (1978). He is less well-known as an illustrator of military publications: during the Second World War, he was a prolific contributor to Army training publications, including his regular strip "Joe Dope" which appeared in the publication Army Motors. The current booklet gives no artistic credit beyond "[the] personnel of the Air Traffic Control Division of the Civil Aeronautics Administration," but it has historically been attributed to Eisner, most recently in the September/October 2008 issue of Managing the Skies, the official journal of the Federal Aeronautics Administration Managers Association. About 15 locations in OCLC. Oblong 12mo (13cm x 18cm). Staple-bound pictorial paper wrappers; 94pp; illus. Mild soil and creasing to covers; faint pencil ownership signature to front wrapper; Very Good. Flight safety handbook for civilian aviators, illustrated in comic style; the illustrations have been attributed to the noted American cartoonist Will Eisner (see note). Seller Inventory # 34812
