Synopsis: Most contemporary management literature tends to treat the subjects of ‘governance’ and ‘resource management’ as two distinct issues, however, the present peer reviewed book attempts to show the inter-relatedness between the two concepts from various perspectives. The book, Governance and Resource Management in Southern Africa, examines contemporary principles of good governance and endeavours to crystallise ways in which poor governance practices affect the management of diverse national resources from human resources to natural resources and other infrastructure. The diverse experiences and expertise of the ten contributors, who are prolific scholars and practitioners in their own right, has greatly enriched the content. They have made it an invaluable reference material for university students, as well as senior officials in public and private sector management of organisations nationally and internationally. Contents include the following: Policy considerations of governance and resource management Leadership, performance management and ethics Inter-governmental relations Citizen participation ICT and e-governance Financial resource management Project management Monitoring and evaluation Human resource management issues About the Editors: Professor Charles OK Allen-ILE was, at the time of this book’s completion, the Assistant Dean for Research and Innovation at the Faculty of Business and Management Sciences of the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT). He is presently a professor in the Industrial Psychology Department of the Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences of the University (UWC) of the Western Cape, South Africa.
