Heissig (1941)-135pp. Gift inscription on front free page: To Mike from Ferd. Lessing, March 1948. Ferdinand Diedrich Lessing (1882-1961) was a German and later American sinologist , Mongolist and expert on Tibetan Buddhism . He participated in the 1930-1933 Sino-Swedish trip of Sven Hedin in part and worked as a team with Gosta Montell. Together with Wilhelm Othmer he wrote a popular textbook of Chinese, printed in 1912 in Qingdao "course at the northern Chinese colloquial language" (see Lessing-Othmer system ). He is also the author of a Mongolian-English dictionary. Some markings in the book by Hambis. Previous owner bookplate on inside front cover.
