About this Item

This is a beautiful example of this book, that has been very well cared-for, and has been protected by the original dust jacket. Very clean and tightly bound with perfectly attached covers that have no traces of cracking. Both the spine and the covers have fine, unworn edges, with a bump to the lower spine. There are no ownership inscriptions or bookplates. There are 271 very clean, still crisp, and tightly bound pages, followed by 4 leaves of advertising. Contains all 12 color plates as called for in the Oz bibliography. The copyright date is 1924, but this book was printed about 1928, with the back flap of the dust jacket listing this book as number 17, and with the last book listed being number 19, 'The Hungry Tiger of Oz', followed by a paste-down label announcing 'The 1928 Oz Book - The Giant Horse of Oz'. There are no ownership inscriptions or bookplates. The generally very clean dust jacket lacks a 1/2 inch square chip from the top of the spine, and some small chipping and creasing to the bottom of the spine. Both of these chips have been covered and backed with now yellowing scotch tape. There is a water discoloration to about 1-1/2 inches of the jacket's spine. The book's colorful paste-down illustration has been duplicated on both the front and back panels of the dust jacket, with a blue and white illustration of Grampa's face on the jacket's spine.
