Synopsis: GRAND MANNERS: The Golden Rule Manners Book - what a great combination - to teach kindness to others in mannerly ways.
For many summers, I spent a week teaching art (watercolor) to some of my grandchildren, my Grands. We would "study" all morning and play all afternoon. Then we decided it would be a good idea to have manners lessons after supper. I wrote notes in outline form and let them teach each other, after going over the pages with the teacher in the "conference room" (sometimes the kitchen, sometimes the bath, wherever). In 1990, when getting my papers together to go home, I thought, "I think this is pretty good." So I made a cover, copying some of their artwork, made copies, stapled it all together and gave a copy to each one. So many friends saw those and wanted a one that I had 100 copies made. They were gone in no time - and so it was born and grew from there.
About the Author: Florence Turner McCoy was born and raised in El Dorado, Arkansas. After high school she attended Marygrove College in Detroit, then was awarded her BA degree from the University of Arkansas. In 1951, she married Humphreys Turner, the father of her four "fabulous" children. Humphreys died in 1989 while on vacation in Maine, and she later married his good friend, Kenneth McCoy. Now the proud owner of 16 Grands and 11 Step-Grands, she has had her chance to "manner" them with her book. She says they are all well-mannered - or, at least "they try".
