Sir Stirling Moss is generally recognized as the greatest driver never to be World Champion. He won 16 of 66 starts in the World Driver's Championship, and was runner-up for the title in four consecutive seasons, 1955–58, then third 1959–61. He suffered serious injuries in a 1962 crash effectively ending his Formula One career, but he continued to compete until 2011, by which time he was 81 years old.
