About this Item
Book is very fine very clean, solid and unmarked. First edition with ( F-B June 1927) code on copyright page. Fine paper spine label just lightly mottled, otherwise a very collectible copy of this tough and austere chronicle of pioneers in Wisconsin, a kind of paradigm of the growth of the American nation. The story is told by a young man who migrates to Europe but cannot leave his past and his family history of pain and hardship beginning during the civil war. Beautiful Ex-Libris of E. Herbert Vogel on front paste-down. Booksellers small label 1.25"x1/2" on rear paste down. Book is quarter bound in velum over green boards, and has fine velum tips at corners. All edges are fine and untrimmed. Book is limited to 250 copies, this is #156 signed by the author (with the most beautiful signature I have ever seen). Publishers slip-case has fine paper label on front. The rest of the case is fairly worn, but still quite serviceable. A wonderful limited edition collectible of Americana. Size: 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Seller Inventory # 000700
