Original cloth with original leather label on front, spine crudely repaired. Lacks endpapers, last two leaves frayed, front hinge gone. The map of Quebec is loose and frayed in the bottom margin. 316 pp., including outline color maps of each of the states and territories of the United States and Canada, with full color maps of the rest of the world. The maps are similar in appearance to those of George Cram, but his name does not appear anywhere, so it is not at all established that he produced them. The last 26 pages are an extensive compendium of statistics and historical information. The information there goes through 1884, including the 1884 election results, leading to the tentative dating of the volume as 1885. Phillips 4363 has a Grant atlas of this date with a similar title, but is listed with only 258 pages, not the 316 pages here. This is a very rare atlas, with OCLC 14267138 showing only two copies.
