About this title

Synopsis:

A cookbook with great recipes combined with lots of stories, home remedies, and interesting information from the ten counties of Southwest Virginia. Music, food, craftsmanship, and storytelling are a big part of the Blue Ridge and Appalachian Mountain traditions. This book shares a glimpse of the beauty and diverstiy of the land and the hardy people who live along the 253-mile route of Virginia's Heritage Music Trail. Dive in! It's a great journey you won't soon forget, with music to be heard at major and minor venues, festivals, and wide places in the road. If you can't go, you can be nourished through the connecting of our shared recipes.

About the Author:

Betty and Libby met through church and the friendship of their daughters. Working together in church activities such as with the youth group, Christmas plays, and in the United Methodist Women's Circle helped develop a common ground. In addition, there was an antique and collectibles stage when much scouring of flea markets and yard sales took place and the pair maintained a booth at a local antique mall. Overlapping this was a crafts making period when many found4; objects took on a new life, especially old rusted anything and everything, which was mailed to barn board birdhouses. This was the most fun of any of the joint projects the two had undertaken until the cookbook/storybook, which has been an adventure they'll never forget!
