Book Description 1993. Soft cover. Condition: Near Fine. No Jacket. 1st Edition. 1976 cross-country endurance horse race undertaken to break the world record for longest such race (previously held by a 1,200-mile 1928 Portuguese contest) was won by Virg O. Norton on his remaining sound mule, a 7-year-old jack named Lord Fauntleroy ("Leroy.") Norton has inscribed, dated (Sept. 14, 1994) and double signed to the first blank page in red ball-point. Previous owner has hand-written the names of many contestants at their candid photos throughout, probably since most of these photos lack captions. We do NOT believe these hand-written names are autographs of the various participants, as they all appear to be in the same hand. Reduced from $800. Seller Inventory # 003032
