About this Item

Undated. Nice ink dedication on front f.e.p. dated March 1893. Ex libris - David Bentley. Blue cloth boards with decorative illustration to front board - yellow flowers, gilt and black pattern and title panel. Same to spine. Gilt all around page ends. Illustrated frontispiece and a number of illustrations inside - nearly all full page; some of the engineers themselves. Engineers include the Stephensons, Trevithick, Hedley, Brunel, Lord Armstrong, Eiffel, Fowler, Arrol. And a chapter on the Forth (Rail) Bridge. Cover is very worn - grubby and some loss of colouring. Board corners bent and some fraying to cloth. Tear in cloth where spine meets lower back board. Rubbed along edges. Text is clean and binding is tight. Heavier hardback. #12.13H1.
