Rowe: Methodist Union Catalog L1109, the first of three editions. LeRoy Madison Lee (1808-1882) Methodist minster of the Virginia Annual Conference. He edited a paper for the Virginia Conference for many years along with serving a number of churches in Virginia and North Carolina. This work is a response to Dr. Fairchild's work on the Parable of the Great Supper. "The parable of the Great Supper is not Calvinistic. Its leading doctrines suggest larger views of the gospel, better ideas of grace, and more substantial hopes for man. The representation of the parable by Dr. Fairchild is a distortion produced by torturing the words of the Great Teacher. He fences the free feast of the gospel with walls of adamant; closes its gates against all but a certain and definite number, particularly and unchangeably designed from all eternity;" and interdicts the approach of all others to the free grace of the gospel. The parable both in its language and doctrines, is perverted by such an exposition of its meaning."--Author's Preface. Bookseller Inventory # 16560
