In the 1840's it was recognized that is there could be a way to refrigerate freight cars, perishables including fish, strawberries, and oranges were attempted but with the completion of the Transcontinental Railroad, the issue of shipments of meat and produce were a major issue and by the 1880's this was accomplished. Here is the complete story of one of the most significant changes in America both for growers and the consumer. Bound in yellow cloth, spine lettering red. A fine copy in very good pictorial dust jacket, front panel has razor slice down center(possibly from opening box when new). Bookseller Inventory # 016476
