About this title

This inaugural volume of a projected annual provides a forum for the new academic research field of green politics.

Not a partisan publication, Green Politics is founded on the belief that the movement represents an important political innovation worthy of serious academic study. All points of view, including those critical of green politics, are included.

Green politics is here understood in the widest possible sense to encompass both party and nonparty political manifestations. The contributions in this volume provide information on countries seldom represented in the literature, such as Belgium, Italy, and Ireland, and are drawn from a number of different theoretical approaches, methodologies, and perceptions of green politics. The contributors include sociologists, political scientists, business analysts, and language specialists. Among the American contributors are Anthony D. Affigne of Brown University and Herbert Kitschelt from Duke. Each of the articles reports original social-scientific research.
