Hardcover in 4 volumes published ub 1852 and 1853. Ex-library with usual stampings, plates, etc. Much wear to exteriors, contents clean and tight overall. Foxing to title page of Volume III. Each volume has rubbing and shelfwear to marbled boards. Volumes I and II have large chips missing from spine, part of Volum I spine barely attached. Volume IV has split on spine all the way down and is barely attached. Volume III has spine but top edge of spine is badly frayed. George was Treasurer of the Navy and First Lord of the Treasury, and is known for the American Stamp Act of 1765. Richard was First Lord of the Admiralty and brother-in-law to William Pitt. Volume I (494 pages) contains introductory essay, letters from1742-1762, corrigenda for volumes I-III, 32 page advertisement for works published by Murray. Volume II (535 pages) contains 1762-1764, Mr. Grenville's Diary of Memorable Transactions. Volume III (397 pages) contains introductory notes relating to Lord Temple and the authorship of Junius, 1765-1766, addenda et corrigenda, 6 plates of facsimile writing, 12 page advertisement of Mr. Murray's new works.
