Group of Documents Relating to Purchase of Mineral Lands in McKinley County, New Mexico from Stella Dysart
22 documents, 32 pages, concerning sale of several lots in Ambrosia Tract No. 2 and No. 3 by S. Dysart to Ida Blackman of Los Angeles, covering 1935-1966. 17 are signed by Dysart. Includes deeds, letters, receipts, leases for oil and uranium exploration, etc. The collection also includes other Blackman correspondence, acknowledgments of her withdrawing from some women's clubs, a letter from the Santa Cruz Parlor of the Native Daughters of the Golden West which is signed by 42 Lodge sisters, and her marriage certificate. Stella Dysart was a New Mexico mineral "wildcatter" who discovered uranium there in 1955 and became very wealthy. She is the subject of a book by Merle Armitage, "Stella Dysart of Ambrosia Lake", published in 1959. Bookseller Inventory # 6362
