He founded the field of developmental genetics with his pioneering work with Drosophila, for which he was awarded the 1995 Nobel Prize in Medicine. It was also Lewis who developed the complementation test, and he made important contributions to the study of cancer, radiation, and genetics. In addition to the papers featured is a book review written by James F. Crow of: "Eugenics: Must it be a Dirty Word?" by Daniel J. Kevles and INSCRIBED BY LEWIS to Norman Horowitz.
