About this Item

A Very uncommom early trail guide in a numbered/limited edition. No. 397. 437 pages of text covering the AMC trail from Damascus, VA through to the old terminus at Mt. Oglethorpe in Southern Georgia. Both fold-out maps: National Forests of the Southern Appalachians, 1939, & Map of Appalachian Trail Carolina Mountain Club Section (Waterville, N.C. - Unaka Springs Tenn.), June, 1942 are present and in wonderful condition. The covers show definate pack-wear yet still in good+ condition. The first edition published in 1937 quickly sold out, it was the last in the 5-part series of the Appalachian Trail by the ATC. They followed it the next year (1938) with a supplement, then in 1942 this Second edition. There are currently no other examples, online, for sale of any of these early editions.
