About this title

Law Firms, New York City Law Firm Guide, Legal Studies, Guide Book, New York City Studies

From Library Journal:

More than a directory, this guide is a treatise on New York City's leading law firms that attempts to capture and explain their history, tradition, and culture. For each of the top 50 firms, Cherovsky provides a two-page profile of the firm's origins, clients, lawyers, work product, office governance, and overall ambience. A data sheet with financial and statistical data from the past five years also accompanies these profiles. Data sheets alone appear for an additional 25 firms; appendixes include more statistics on revenues, profits, salaries, and personnel. The bare numbers alone are less useful. The profiles combined with the data sheets, however, provide a fuller and more revealing description of each firm than does the Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory (Martindale-Hubbell, 1990). This guide should prove most useful to academic law libraries hoping to send their graduates to these firms. Corporations seeking legal counsel may find it helpful, as might other New York law firms.
