Description:

8vo. Price-clipped dust jacket. 76pp. Illustrations. Fine/very good. Minor jacket edgewear. A tight and handsome first edition, signed boldly in full by Robinson on front flyleaf in black ballpoint. In April 1864 ten Union gunboats got trapped in low water on the Red River near Alexandria, Louisiana; this is the tale of the 4th Wisconsin Cavalry officer's valiant building of a log dam to free these boats. Near bottom of front flyleaf is the 1993 ownership signature of a member of the New Orleans Civil War Round Table. A surprisingly scarce title. Bookseller Inventory #
