[First published for the author in Knoxville in 1830 with a different subtitle.] xv+[3]+604+[2]pp. Index is on pages [iii]-viii. Small octavo. Goatskin leather binding, worn and faded with gold Lettering and bands on Spine faded, barely visible. A water stain to front cover of binding. Edges worn and bumped, some browning to the pages. Leather very rubbed and worn with sheets browned and foxed throughout; Owner's ink signature to front endpaper: first few pages up through the index are loose and slightly detached, a respectable and complete copy. Book Description F.S. Saxton, 1856. Unknown Binding. Condition: Acceptable. This is 1853 ed. (revised ed.--improved and enlarged.) Missing cover boards and most of the spine. Title page is detached and ragged but legible. Pages 1-4 missing. Text block begins with p. 5 of index, and ends after the 10 pages of reviews following p. 893, so that part is probably complete. Binding of the text block is secure from p. 13, earlier pages are hanging on by threads. A good reading copy, the pages have occasional stains, foxing, or a few ghostly images of pressed leaves but are in quite good shape.
