Presumed first edition (single copyright statement upon title page verso). 71 pages. Hardcover: H 15.4xm x L 9.7cm. Original quarter leather binding; black leather spine with marbled paper boards. Chipping at spine ends, white discoloration to leather at front board's bottom left, spine's gilt stamped title lettering remains bright, wear at board corners with slender abrasion and nicks at top and bottom board edges. Moderate toning to front and rear free endpapers with lighter toning/foxing to pastedowns; past owner's signatures/inscriptions in antiquarian ink on front free endpaper, front flyleaf, frontis recto, and rear free endpaper; some other mostly light foxing to interior pages. Binding is firm. B/w frontispiece illustration signed "C Sch." which is possibly Christian Schussele (1824-1879). Small unsigned b/w tailpiece vignette illustration on page 71. OCLC cites copies held by only nine member libraries.
