About this Item

First Edition. With over 60 black and white plates from the authorís photographs. 8vo, original salmon cloth, gilt lettered on the spine and upper cover, in dustjacket. xiv, 255 pp. The cloth quite fine and bright, the text fine but for some very minor edge spotting, the jacket with some light wear and toning but still quite pleasing and complete. FIRST EDITION. A wonderful work on hardy native flowers of the Golden State. Rowntree has produced here neither a gardening book nor a typical identification guide, but a conveyance of the loveliness and garden possibilities of some of the lesser known native hardy plants.
