This is an original, complete issue of 16 pages dated May 29, 1880 -- Vol. 24, No. 1222 -- Illustrated with wood cut engravings -- Light moisture stain around edges, otherwise very nice condition -- The Front Cover has a full page portrait engraving drawn by D. Laugee titled "Earl Granville, K.G., The New British Foreign Minister" -- Page 340 has a full page engraving by A. B. Shults titled "Immigrants In Castle Garden" -- Page 341 has two engravings, one by A. B. Shults titled "Immigrants Landing At Castle Garden", the other titled "The Pottery Exhibition At Cincinnati" -- Pages 344 & 345 have a double page centerfold titled "The Bishops Of The Methodist Episcopal Church", which consists of thirteen portrait engravings (1852-1880) -- Page 348 has a large engraving by Thomas Nast titled "An Old Family Quarrel" -- Page 349 has two engravings, one titled "Sanford E. Church", the other "The New Railway To The Summit Of Vesuvius" -- This issue contains a portion of the serial "A Confidential Agent" by James Payn, Chapter XXI -- Many articles related to these engravings and other events occurring at the time, as well as very interesting advertising -- This paper is technically referred to as a periodical, however, it is a Historical Document, recording events at the time of their occurrence -- An excellent opportunity for the Historian, Researcher or Collector. ---- We store and ship each Harper's Weekly issue in a large zip lock plastic sleeve with a board insert for stiffness.
