About the Book

Description:

The second printing, 271 pages. "Headlines" is the autobiography of a faithful person, a devote wide and mother, who was flung into the arena of our criminal courts and tortured by a sensation-hungry press. It is based on actual experiences in the life of the author, many of the more thrilling and lurid of which I witnessed in my capacity of newspaper reporter. This is from the Foreword by Mildred Gilman. "Reporters and photographers sprang in hores from nowhere. They pounded on her doors and windows, tried to climb up the dumbwaiter, stuck pines in the door bell. They informed her that her husband had confessed to murder." VERY GOOD HARDCOVER, GOOD DUST JACKET. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Bookseller Inventory #

Book Description Harper & Brothers, New York, 1932. Book Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. First edition. Spine lettering slightly rubbed, else about fine in an about very good dustwrapper with a number of shallow chips, mostly at the upper extremities. Autobiographical novel about the "wife of a man electrocuted for murder." Not in Hubin, probably because of the very slight distinction between fact and fiction. Bookseller Inventory # 55247
