Vintage original 20 x 13 ½" (52 x 35 cm.) pressbook; folio, pictorial wrappers, 30 pp., with a three-page fold-out leaf at the beginning, USA. John Archer, Warner Anderson, dir: Irving Pichel; Eagle Lion. The first science fiction feature film produced by the great George Pal, and noteworthy for various reasons: first of all, it came at the very beginning of the cycle of classic 1950s science fiction films, and is one of the earliest American films about the exploration of the moon. It is adapted from a novel by the important writer Robert Heinlein, and it is his first screen credit (both for the novel from which the film is adapted, and also a shared screenwriting credit with two other writers). This is a very substantial and sumptuous looking book. It is a rare one, and in especially lovely condition. The wrappers have yapped edges, and there are a few very minor tears, and some inoffensive light creasing. Overall, NEAR FINE. Bookseller Inventory #
