About this Item

Acclaimed writer's most exciting novel, about twenty people in an airliner that's off course and running out of fuel, basis for the John Wayne movie. Gann is a most under-rated novelist whose reputation continues to rise and his work keeps appreciating. The book is so tightly bound it appears unread, with no names or other markings. A small brown spot on the rear endcovers is its most serious flaw. Light blue boards with black spine cloth, and silver lettering and birds on the spine. Not stated as first printing but no additional printings listed on copyright page. The DJ is made of plain paper and thus subject to more wear than a modern laminated jacket. It has done its job but is now definitely tired as evident by edgewear at its extremities, esp. the spine ends and corners which have tiny chips. Not price clipped ($3.50), and is still bright with a mylar cover. Author's B/W photo on rear panel. No mention of Book of the Month Club on rear flap. Hard to find in first edition.
