There is a small spot on the half-title page and minor creasing an tiny chips to the upper edge of the dustwrapper. The hilarious novel based on the author's experiences while working for the Maharaja of Chhatarpur as a secretary, a job secured for him by E. M. Forster. The Maharaja and his court, complete with a retinue of male lovers, present for Ackerly a prize target for his very funny descriptions of life in the Raj.
