360pp. plus plates and ads. Folding frontispiece map. Engraved title. 6 1/8 x 3 3/4 in. (16mo). Original printed cloth over boards. Condition: Good+. Spine darkened, as is the front board along its top and fore-edge margins. Chips to cloth along joints, which remain very sound. Page edges darkened. Endpapers mildly acid-stained, and text shows some very mild staining, mostly marginal, throughout. A pale dampstain at the bottom fore-edge corners, entering text, affects the final half of the book. First American edition, after the Edinburgh Cabinet Library edition of the previous year. A general history of discovery of the Pacific Northwest including the voyages of Cabot, Bering, Cook, Mackenzie and other major explorers., along with the natural history and geography of the region.
