Spines have substantial wear with loose sections and some losses, though no full panels lost. Gilding on spine is legible. Raised bands on spine. Green/blue coth. Decorative blind-stamped front and rear boards. Hinges and corners worn. Insides are very clean for age; some foxing and soiling; occasional pencil mark or notation. Vol. I: cracks along bottom two raised bands with separation at back; losses to top and bottom of spine; hinges weak; ffep through title p. separated from spine; prior owner's name in pen on title p; pencil notations on top 1/2 of rear of ffep; soiling to endpapers; foxing, particularly early; 518 pp.; Vol. II: Chipping to head and tail of spine with horizontal losses 1/2" and 1/4" respectively; front hinge weak; prior owner's name in pen on title p; 527 pp; Vol. III: Loss to top of spine; three horizontal cracks at bottom of spine; 1/3" diameter loss in center of spine near bottom; front hinge cracked and weak; prior owner's name in pen on title p; 494 pp. Very rare in complete set.
