A set of first printings of the 2 books from 1923 & 1925, respectively, covering the histories of 2 units from origins through World War I. Both volumes have bookplates the of noted military historian Henry I. Shaw on front endpapers, Volume I has some minor spotting to covers, else both are solid very good or better copies. Together the 2 volumes total over 650 pages, covering actions in various 18th century campaigns, The American Revolution, Australia, India, The Crimean War, Boer Wars & World War I, including Mesopotamia, Palestine & The Western Front - which is over 250 of the 350 pages in Volume II . Appendices include Succession of Colonels, Roll of all officers who joined the regiments, Decorations & Honors Rolls, officers killed in World War I, illustrated with 49 plates & photos (including 11 in full color) & 7 maps. This is the second binding done after the supply of maps was exhausted, so there is no pocket with maps at the rear of Volume II. Bookseller Inventory # 011758
