A facsimile reprint of the first edition from Gale & Polden in 1927, consisting of 2 volumes of text & a map case of 41 large individual map sheets. A tight FINE set of the 3 oversize volumes without dust wrappers, as issued, in a FINE slipcase, limited to 200 numbered copies. History the unit formed in 1881 by the amalgamation of the 101st (Royal Bengal Fusiliers) & the 104th (Bengal Fusiliers) Regiments & their predecessors. Volume I (250 pages) covers the years up to 1860, including service in India & Burma. Volume II (over 300 pages) covers 1861 to 1922, including The Boer War & World War I, where the battalions variously fought at Gallipoli, in Egypt, Greece & in France in the battles of Ypres, The Somme, Passchendaele & Loos, before being disbanded in 1922 with the establishment of The Irish Free State. Appendices include World War I Honors & Awards, a list of commanding officers & Colonels of the Regiment. Together the 2 volumes contain 89 illustrations plus 8 color plates.
