All volumes have bookplates of the noted military historian Henry I. Shaw on the front endpapers. Volume I has bookplate of Viscount Midleton on the front pastedown & Volume IV has a bookplate on front pastedown, a couple of volumes have a bit of foxing in margins of early pages & on page edges, else all 5 are tight near FINE copies with gold titling on covers & spines sharp & bright. Additionally, Volume I is inscribed in 1897 to Viscount Midleton, Lord Lieutenant of Surrey (1896 - 1905), plus both Volumes II & III are inscribed in 1902 to The Right Honourable William Brodrick, Secretary of State for War. The 5 oversize volumes totaling over 1850 pages cover the unit's service in various 17th, 18th & 19th century wars, The American Revolution, French Revolutionary & Napoleonic Wars (including The Peninsula), India, Afghanistan, China, Burma, culminating with The Boer War, profusely illustrated with plates (including several in color of uniforms), plans & maps.
