About this Item

One of the most colorful Bureau of American Ethnology reports, this edition contains two important contributions: "Hopi Katcinas Drawn by Native Artists," by Fewkes, pages 3-126, relates to the supernatural figures of the Hopi. It is lavishly illustrated in color lithographs made from drawings by Indian artists. Part I, "Iroquoian Cosmology" by J.N.B. Hewitt, pages 127-339, provides the text of the creation myth in Onandaga, Seneca and Mohawk versions. The text is transcribed in the original languages and translated, with commentary. VG or better in original binding. Bookseller Inventory # JWF21-1903
