A remarkable history of the Harper publishing firm and it's authors, including wonderful anecdotes about (and steel-engraved portraits of) Lew Wallace, Thomas Nast, William Dean Howells, Edwin Austin Abbey, Thomas Hardy, George du Maurier and Samuel Clemens.
