Title: HYMNS FOR THE CAMP.
Publication Date: 1864
Binding: Soft cover
Book Condition: Very Good
[Raleigh] [ca.1864] 127pp. ‘Third edition, revised and enlarged.’ Original plain tan wraps. Spine perfect, two slightly dog-eared corners, one tiny stain on front wrap. Very nice. Inscribed in cursive ink on front wrap, ‘F. Bradley Peyton. Orange C.H., Va. May 12th, 1865. Memorable Day for B&M.’ One wonders what was memorable about it. The last battle of the Civil War was fought in Texas that day, but of course Peyton, who had likely been recently paroled from the Confederate Army, could not have known that. Frank Bradley Peyton was a member of the 34th Virginia Militia, and his family is prominent in Virginia to this day. CRANDALL 4248. PARRISH & WILLINGHAM 8797. Bookseller Inventory # ABE-14083540680
