Hamilton College's 1947 yearbook, "The Hamiltonian", was an extraordinary postscript to World War II and it's profound effect upon the college. Included in this 1947 yearbook is a list of fifty students and alumni who died in the war and a description of the college's efforts in admitting and accommodating student-soldiers while also serving a civilian student population. Many of the students whose Hamilton College educations were interrupted by the war, returned, not only changed and matured, but married. The college had to scurry to find housing for the students (who were all male) and their new wives.

The yearbook includes a section celebrating the arrival of the wives and the first time women became part of life on college hill. This is a fascinating issue for Hamilton Alumni of any age. For those who might still remember, there are photographs of some significant faculty members including the famous poet, Howard Nemerov, who taught English, Edgar "Digger" Graves, and Professor John Mattingly, among others.

CONDITION - VERY GOOD - Some very light scuffing along the spine, with minor ink loss in the lettering. End-papers have some mild toning. Text-block top edge displays a touch of dust-foxing. Front board opens widely. Otherwise, clean and solid. No signatures. .
