Printed black on yellow stock with a background of then-current newspaper clippings on the Vietnam War from Chicago newspapers. Sharp corners, no wrinkles, or tears. Light aging. Signed by McDonald near center. (This came from original owner who knew McDonald.) Handbill advertising Country Joe and The Fish with Hawk; also Rotary Connection with Growin Concern. Country Joe McDonald was famous at this time for Vietnam War protest songs like "Feel Like Iím Fixiní to Die Rag," which became an anthem of the times and was preserved in the movie "Woodstock." Country Joe MacDonald continues his work for veterans today and is active in the movement to have the government research Agent Orange. Rotary Connection was one of Chicagoís top rock/soul bands and featured 5-octave singer Minnie Riperton. This concert was held just a month before the now-historic Chicago Democratic Convention began. ORIGINAL--NOT A REPRODUCTION. 8.5 x 11 handbill by artist Mark Twain Behrens from 1968 (Behrens later moved to the West Coast where he continued to do artwork for rock concerts). Advertises two billings during the first week of July at Chicagoís premier rock palace of the day, Aaron Russoís Electric Theatre (also referred to as the Kinetic Playground). Russo became Bette Midlerís manager right after this period and later a film maker of some note ("Wise Guys," "Trading Places" and "The Rose.") And in 2004 he was the Libertarian Party candidate for President of the United States. ; Small 4to 9" - 11" tall; 1 pages; Signed by Author. Bookseller Inventory #
