About this title

Synopsis:

Handover Strategy is part of a brand new series providing must-read practical guidance to running efficient and successful projects using the new RIBA Plan of Work 2013. Each guide takes a core project task – in this case those associated with developing and implementing an effective Handover Strategy - and explains the essential activities required at each stage.

Concise and easy to use with a consistent format these guides provide the ultimate quick reference support at your desk or on-site. An authoritative ‘how to’ full of pragmatic advice, examples and in-text features such as ‘hints and tips’ that illuminate best practice and clever solutions. Designed to be used on all projects – large and small – and across all types of procurement, they are task rather than role-oriented acknowledging that a variety of people take on these responsibilities. They are also invaluable for architectural students at Part 3 who are getting to grips with the realities of practice.

About the Author:

Lisa Pasquale is a London-based building performance evaluator and Soft Landings consultant. She is the director of Six Cylinder Limited, a specialist consultancy that integrates post-construction and post-occupancy feedback into design and construction phases of projects. She was previously Architype’s Sustainable Design Development manager where she evaluated their projects to support them in modifying their design and project management approaches. Lisa has practiced as an architectural designer in London, Boston and Shanghai. She frequently lectures in industry and academic venues on building performance evaluation, quality assurance in construction and human-centered design. She is a CIBSE Chartered Engineer, and holds a Bachelor of Architecture from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and an MSc in Sustainable Environmental Design from the Architectural Association.

Professor Tim Sharpe

A graduate of Dundee and Strathclyde Universities with practice and research experience in a number of fields, including user participation, environmental design and sustainability. His Ph.D. examined the nature of community architecture and design participation and looked in detail at the potential for CAD for participatory design projects. After this he was able to apply and develop this research in practice whilst working as an architect for the Technical Services Agency, a tenant managed Community Technical Aid Centre, where he worked on a variety of housing and other design and rehabilitation projects, and developed further expertise in energy related technical issues. In recent years he has been either the principle or co-investigator on a wider range of external funded projects that are investigating energy and environmental performance, including a range of externally funded projects developing and undertaking Building Performance Evaluation. He is currently an Innovate UK Building Performance Evaluation expert evaluator, and sits on the NHBC standards committee and NHBC Council, and chairs the Scottish Technical Standards Committee. He is Professor of Environmental Architecture and Head of Architectural Technology at the Mackintosh School of Architecture, and Director of the Mackintosh Environmental Architecture Research Unit (MEARU).
