B. Frank Saylor (1838-1920) lived in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, where he owned and operated a photography studio. He was also active in the Lutheran Church community. In this signed will he leaves his 100-acre farm and $15,000 to Callie Markley. He stipulates that from the bequest Ms. Markley must use $5000 to build a status of Jacob Ortman, use $3000 to erect a "darky church", use $600 annually to pay for a "colored preacher" to "preach the Gospel to the hypocrites of Washington Borough", and provide for Saylor's horse "Cracker" to be buried and to put an iron fench around his grave. The will is witnessed by John Shank. The book has publisher's cloth binding, embossed decoration on cover with rubbing. Foxing throughout, some pages detached. Bookseller Inventory #
