About this title

Portland, Oregon, 1997
Back in the 60s he tuned in, turned on, and dropped out into a life without deadlines or documentation. But now the aging flower child known as Paladin has run up against reality.
High-tech thugs with guns want a package he didn't deliver, cops like him for the murder of a low-rent attorney, and the attorney's secretary wants to jump his bones--or bury them. And what about the band of misfits and miscreants he calls his friends? Can he trust them? Or will they sell him out?
The man who once followed the Grateful Dead will be grateful to be alive IF he makes it through THE HARD KARMA SHUFFLE.

About the Author:

Mike Nettleton is the author of The Shotgun Kiss and co-author of DRUM WARRIOR, DEATH AT DEVIL'S HARBOR, DECEPTION AT DEVIL'S HARBOR, THE HARD KARMA SHUFFLE, and THE CRUSHED VELVET MIASMA. He grew up in Bandon and Grants Pass, Oregon. A stint at a college station in Ashland led to a multi-state radio odyssey with on-air gigs in Oregon, California, and New Mexico under the air name Mike Phillips. In 1989 he returned to the Northwest and in 1994 joined KEX Radio in Portland. Recently retired, his hobbies are golf, pool, Texas hold-em poker, and community theater productions.
Carolyn J. Rose is the author of several novels, including the Subbing isn't for Sissies series (NO SUBSTITUTE FOR MURDER, NO SUBSTITUTE FOR MONEY, and NO SUBSTITUTE FOR MATURITY), the Catskill Mountains Mysteries (HEMLOCK LAKE and THROUGH A YELLOW WOOD), AN UNCERTAIN REFUFE, SEA OF REGRET, and A PLACE OF FORGETTING. She grew up in New York's Catskill Mountains, graduated from the University of Arizona, logged two years in Arkansas with Volunteers in Service to America, and spent 25 years as a television news researcher, writer, producer, and assignment editor in Arkansas, New Mexico, Oregon, and Washington. She founded the Vancouver Writers' Mixers and is an active supporter of her local bookstore, Cover to Cover. Her interests are reading, gardening, and NOT cooking.
