Book Description Harper & Brothers, 1937. Soft cover. Condition: Very Good. This is an October 1937 issue of "Harpers Magazine" that features the 1st appearance of the short story "THE CHRYSANTHEMUMS" by JOHN STEINBECK. The issue also includes an article titled "Roosevelt: Democratic or Dictatorial?" There are advertisements at the front and back of the issue. "The Chrysanthemums" would later be included in Steinbeck's collection of stories "The Long Valley" in 1938. THE CHRYSANTHEMUMS A woman shares her prize flowers with a dishonest vagrant and the results are shattering. Condition: Some soiling to front and back covers. The issue is tightly bound with no loose pages. Diagonal crease line at upper-right corner of front cover. The pages are in excellent condition - clean and white with only some light staining on the outer edges of the first few pages.otherwise clean and white with no issues.
