Joe proposes marriage after Rose discovers she is pregnant with a child he hasnt fathered. Joe claims paternity, but Roses mother insists on a Jewish marriage ceremony. They find an obscure rabbi, Petrokoff, who agrees to marry them. Petrokoff, escaped from Nazi-occupied Poland, presents a hand-scribed marriage contract to Rose after performing the rite. About the Author:

A. Albert Goldberg served eight years in the US Naval Reserve, five years of which were on active duty during World War II. Upon being honorably discharged in 1945, he continued his education at Columbia University in the evening while working as an electrical engineer in CBS' research laboratory. Goldberg was in charge of advanced development of color and high-definition television systems. He retired in 1986 as a director of television research of the CBS Technology Center in Stamford. Goldberg holds 32 patents and has written numerous papers for technical journals, is a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, a Fellow of the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers, and is a Professional Engineer registered in Connecticut.
