About this title

Camille Calhoun lives in service to God. Twenty years of dedicated service to the Department of Juvenile Justice as a social worker was her ministry. No one else could boast of the fifteen percent recidivism rate for the children to whom she prescribed her services. However, the continuous revisions of the rules for rehabilitation began to wear down her resilience against the powers that be. After praying to the Heavenly Father for guidance, talking with her parents, best friend, and desiring to do more, she decided to resign and open her home for foster care. Utilizing the investigative tools of her father's company and her sister's FBI connections, she was able to check into the background of her prospective children. Both she and her best friend held Master's degrees in Sociology which would be essential in rehabilitative training. Her mother, Carmen, would supply the spiritual guidance and motherly coaching. For Camille, Mama Cee-Cee, as she is affectionately called by all of her children, had developed a formula that worked: GOD + Love + Discipline = A Hope-Filled Child. The children invited into her home had been convicted of misdemeanors who could be released but had no place to go. One of her children, Cheerio, witnessed the death of his abusive father. Another, Bow, had prematurely became a father and resorted to criminal activity to provide for his child and girlfriend. But their healing began with Mama Cee-Cee and her resounding faith in God. When those who leave her care do not call in, she worries. This time with good reason for one of her children was in deep trouble. Upon receiving her newest child, Carlos, turmoil would invade her sanctuary. She chose him over the objections of family and friends for his case was extraordinary. This would be the child who made Mama Cee-Cee face her own past. Her decisions to share her experiences with him provided an opening for this child to finally begin to feel safe. However, the enemy never sleeps. Carlos is abducted. Her faith is shaken and tested. She pours liquid prayers for his safe return trusting in the Father all while worrying about another of her children from whom she hasn't heard a word. Would God answer her prayers? Can Love prevail over sin? Are the children listening? Is now the time for their healing to begin?
