Pencil notes on blank rear endpapers, and a few marginal pencil marks in book. Includes a "Working Checklist" of Hemingway's books (and reviews thereof), and an index; 322 pages. Inscribed by the author on the title page: "Inscribed with high regard for Meta Schilz, fellow-student of poetry at Bread Loaf, Summer, 1953. Carlos Baker".
