About this Item

Small quarto. 28pp. One of 60 copies on handmade paper. This is George Chapman's translation of the classic myth, elegantly printed in black and red. Inscribed to St. John Hornby of the Ashendene Press by James Masters, "a fellow-craftsman" who was the printer at the High House Press. Also with two tipped-in letters sent to Hornby by Masters in January, 1936: the first presents the book to Hornby, and the second shows the admiration that Masters had for his colleague as they discuss binding, printing, and typographical errors. With Hornby's book label on the front endpaper. Bound in marbled paper boards backed in white linen. A very fine association copy. Bookseller Inventory # 22963
