About this title

Synopsis:

Homicide Detective Dixie Freeman is chosen by the federal government as the perfect candidate for a time travel expedition into the year 2250. It's their contention that if the nation is to have a future, something new needed to be done to fight raging crime on the streets. They needed someone tough, intelligent, the least likely to crack under pressure, and the most likely to make it a success. They also needed someone with no family, close friends, no ties to her society that might create questions if the mission failed.

Dixie has other ideas. They have to be joking. Time travel? Yeah, right. She tells them what to do with their hair-brained ideas!

Forced into a world that was as alien as being on Jupiter, Dixie immediately finds herself face-to-face with a man who turns out to be the head of organized crime in the year 2250. Seconds later, she's aided by Commander Randall Forty, and from that moment, the heat is on.

Not only does she have ninety days to apprehend this madman of that era, but she falls in love with this incredible man she comes to work so closely with. His love for her grows beyond all reasoning.

Randall must find a way to tell her the truth about himself if he can also discover a way to keep her in the year in which he lives. His memory was taken by a trauma he suffered, and once he remembers, he must tell Dixie the truth about himself. Until he can remember his past, their future looks bleak.

Will he remember in time? When his secret is revealed, will she still be able to love him? Will she believe that he can love her? With all the modern technology available in the year 2250, there must be a way to keep her from going back into a world in which she never belonged. Find out what happens in this action packed story of futuristic technology, crime, and love!

About the Author:

Vickie Kennedy lives in a small town just south of Atlanta where she grew up. She started her writing career as a staff writer for an Atlanta-based professional wrestling magazine, moved up to become editor, but when the magazine sold and changed, she went on to writing poetry and fiction, although still an avid wrestling fan. She has also co-authored a non-fiction book on hiring contractors. Her poetry has been published in anthologies by Watermark Press, and can be viewed on the internet.

When asked how to get started in writing, her answer is always, "Just sit down and do it, but don't stop until you finish, then re-write it, then re-write it again. Write everyday without fail, no matter what. Don't find time to write; make time." She has taught writing classes for Personal Enrichment Programs, has been guest speaker for numerous writer's meetings, and is founder of a writer's group called "The Writer's Block," which meets twice monthly to evaluate each other's work, but it's more than just a critique group. About the group, she says, "We started in 1994, and some members have come and gone, but those of us that persevered are the ones that have succeeded. We not only help each other with writing, but we also help each other personally. No one knows what a writer goes through except another writer. We give support, encouragement, and we're of all genres so we get a feel for other types of stories, not just our own. It's great."

Vickie Kennedy is now single, a mom to three, grandmom to five. She has three dogs, one cat, and two lovebirds. She loves nature's animals and the mountains. She has held jobs ranging from a waitress, telemarketer, market research supervisor, and executive administrative assistant.

She says, "Of all the things I've done in life, writing is what I love most. To succeed, you have to be tough enough to take all the rejection slips and returned manuscripts that come your way and not get discouraged. The best way to handle that is pack it up again and send it to someone else. There is always a publisher looking for a good manuscript, so if you have faith in yourself, faith in the story you want to tell, then by all means, keep it in the mail!"
