Add to basketReynal and Company in association with William Morrow and Company, New York, 1968, hardcover, first published in the United States in 1966. Originally published in Germany in 1965. Bosch, 1450 1516, born in Holland, is best known for his nightmarish and macabre imagery of hell and those who dwell therein. Should you buy this book keep it away from the children! It is scary even for adults. This substantial book, which weighs about 8 lb., was printed in Yugoslavia and was obviously a very expensive undertaking. When published in 1966, it was priced at US$65. The quality of the reproductions of his paintings is fabulous. There are 48 color plates and 364 black and white illustrations. This is the definitive study on one of the Middle Ages most influential artists. The construction of the book is very unusual in that many of the pages are two sheets of paper glued together hence the significant weight of the volume. It has 451 pages that measure 12.4" X 10.4". The weight and size of this book will require extra postage. The book is in fine condition and the dust jacket that has been printed on very heavy stock and folded up on both the top and bottom edges is also near fine, the only flaw being a sunned spine. It is now in a protective mylar jacket. The weight and size of this art book will require extra postage. Bookseller inventory number 1768a.
