8°, early nineteenth-century tree sheep (some minor wear), smooth spine gilt with crimson leather lettering piece (a bit scraped), gilt-lettered short title, marbled endleaves, text block edges sprinkled red. Typographical headpiece on p. 1. Typographical tailpiece on p. 176. Woodcut tailpiece on p. 209. Light toning. Light waterstains throughout. Overall in good to very good condition. (2 ll.), 219 pp. *** First published in French in Geneva, 1482, and said to have been translated from the Latin (but no Latin edition is known), this romance of chivalry with a Spanish theme was first published in Spanish in Burgos, 1499. There are many later editions; all the early ones are very rare.*** Palau 200858. Heredia 6089. No edition in Salvá. Not in Whitehead, British Library 18thC Spanish STC. Not located in Copac, which lists editions of [1750?]-1841. CCPBE locates a copy each at Universidad de Oviedo and Instituto de Bachillerato Jaime Balmes. Not located in Rebiun.
